5-Letter Words with No Vowels

These five-letter words contain none of A, E, I, O or U. In almost all of them Y is doing the job of a vowel: crypt, glyph, lymph, myrrh, nymph, psych and tryst are good examples.

About these words

Two rarities manage without Y as well. Crwth is an ancient Welsh stringed instrument, where W acts as the vowel, and phpht is an interjection of mild annoyance. Vowel-free words are a classic trick for clearing awkward consonants from your rack.
